Good Morning

Too much of a good thing?
I need to fix my umbrella over my bird feeder. The wind has torn my tape away. I should use high speed NASCAR tape or get some grommets and place in places where I can weave it to stay put.
The pool is getting cleaner as I type.
I still think that "Good Morning " is the best salutation in my environment. Good morning gets in to moral connotations, Good Morning reflects some nice things about our health. Good Morning explains my state of mind. Good Morning spreads a feeling of well being across the nation.

Congratulation to the falling space craft and it's safe landing. "Go Big Shuttle!"
We now know what happens or we knew from the start what would happen when government gets to chummy with industry and guts our regulatory branches of government.
President Bush put oil industry executives in the EPA and in our Minerals Management Service. Those two services were in name only, a blank facade there only because Congress said they had to be there. President Obama is replacing those offices with strong leadership and someone you cares for our nation and will not pollute the waters of government.
I can see why executives want a smaller government in Washington so that Free Enterprise can regulate themselves.

Wisdom on Wall Street

Wisdom is not to be found on Wall Street. They are as fickle as a10 year old with a lollipop and as reliable as a really stoned hippie. if I was building a structure of any kind I would not buy my cement from Wall Street. They are completely undependable. They move like an maybe/active volcano.
I took my 1st dip into the pool yesterday. I put the steps in, I cleaned the pool and then Kitten Yarn and the children went into the pool.
I think mom will go in this afternoon.
My next project is to work on the deck, last year I treated the deck so this year I seal it. The sides with ordinary sealer the walking area with slip proof sealer, I'll start payday.

America's new culture war: Free enterprise vs. government control

This would be a good story had free enterprise had not left the county for free labor overseas. When our labor force lost their jobs when enterprises left for Mexico and China does not make this story understandable. The only free enterprises left in the county are small local shops that could not move so the theory of a culture war has no meaning.
If I hold stock in a big corporation that has left the country then I do have interest in the story. The majority of folks in this country with a day labor job live day to day with two part time jobs, they love the idea of free enterprise but have no open doorways other than their front door steps. The line was drawn when Corporate America left for cheaper labor overseas.
Labor unions had equalized the country keeping Corporate America honest. With labor gone there is no one left but the country itself to right the ship.

Since I am retired I spent the day yesterday doing laundry and housekeeping. Today I mow, our grass is tall, green and thick.
Kitten Yarn may come by today with the children.
The oil is going places we were worried about. The government assumes out of sight out of mind. Katrina is still on my mind and so is this oil spill.

A Good Thing About the USA

One of the greatest things about the United States is that we can travel by automobile from one end of the country to the other end without being stuck in the mud on most roads. That is really great.
Who created the roads? It was "We the People" with tax money and levies. A small government or a state government would never have had the money to do anything like that. If it was up to the States all roads would be different and the Interstate System of Roads would have never been built. You can thank Germany and the Second World War for our Interstate System of Roads. We found out that we could not move our armies quickly enough for the next war so Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower built roads across the United States. He was a warrior and he knew what he wanted. Money to build roads has to come from bonds, taxes and levies.
Those fast roads are built for armies in vehicles not on foot.
Somewhere along the line we forgot about horses, bicycles, mothers with children and wheelchairs.

Rand Paul will create law if elected

What in the world is happening with this eye doctor. He shot himself in the foot by telling us what he thinks.
Honest?
Yes.
I guess he represents the "T Party" thinking in Kentucky. Somewhat biased but they obey the laws. I guess if he had a chance some of the laws will be changed because that is what senators do. I thought Mitch McConnell was tough by standing firm and not voting for anything Democratic.
The government should not tell folks to build ramps for folks in wheel chairs let the states decide what is best for the disabled.
I just wrote below that we should have sidewalks for women and children and the disabled along the north part of town. There is no point in me writing Rand Paul for help on that one. I know what he thinks.

Our son and his wife sent us a Plumeria cutting and mom and I just now placed it in a pot outside.
Here is a photo of what it should look like in a few years. I think mom may have a photo of what it looks like now without any leaves or flowers.
In Crittenden County we have a patch of road that is dangerous for pedestrian traffic. It is Kentucky and Federal property and can be fixed by agreement by both agencies.
The areas concerned are two fold:
The 1st is a stop light crosswalk needed in front of the Creekside Apartments where a lot of elderly and disabled voters live. It is a dangerous crossing for pedestrians because of the adjacent hill with limited visibility.
The 2nd is the mile of roadway from Pemida to the curve (Curve Inn) at Main Street. The area has no sidewalk and it is dangerous for any pedestrian traffic.
We live in country that has built roads from one end of the United States to the other end of the United States. The roads are comfortable for road traffic.
Our problem is that tax payers in Crittenden County need roads that are suitable for all forms of traffic and that includes foot ware as well as tire wear.

Oil in Louisiana

It is very peaceful and quiet in Kentucky this morning. Water is dipping and there is a humming in my ears either from electricity in our home or my inner ear is ringing. Blue skies and distant clouds are the norm. There is a ceiling fan turning clockwise and battery clock ticking.
The primary was held with no violence. Money placed the leaders to the front of the election lines.

Election Day

The schools are closed. We voted and had breakfast. A care package arrived at our doorstep. We need clues on some of the content.
My sister talked about a water leak under bathroom sink that kept them up all night.
We voted on paper then scanned it into a computer.
The care package included hibiscus tea. It is made from the dried flowers of the plant. Thank you.

I understand that oil forms into pools underground and we pump it out of those pools and burn it and use it as a lubricant. It normally does not flow into the ocean or if it does I am not sure of. The fact that we pump it up and out regularly seems normal.
In the last week a terrible mix-up and explosion killed and injured human beings and pumped millions of gallons of crude oil into the sea where it floats and disperses. We have removed some out of sight, burned some and sunk some.
Will it clog drains and gills, tar feathers and make a walking mess on beaches? I think yes.

5 million gallons have come to the surface so far.

The Sun Day The Day To Relax.

I just awoke, for some reason I slept longer this morning. I did drink coffee all day yesterday. Today is a tea day.
It is overcast with lite showers. The only morning sound I hear is water falling, a ringing in my ears and a cat chewing cat chow.

Good Morning. It is peaceful here in Kentucky. We have fast woman and beautiful horses and everyone carries a shotgun in their truck. I guess that it why it is so peaceful.
Several cats and a spider jumped on mom during the night so today I wash all the bedding looking for cats, spiders and fleas.

Demon Sheep

It is time for a morning prayer. I will do a little today and keep a little still and not be so active today.
Mom was tired this morning she has pushed her body at work and it hurts her in good ways. She enjoys being with the public.
Our new washing machine really uses very little water, when you open the lid while it is agitating the water barely covers the clothes, strange but it works.
We got a new solar cover and I put it on two days ago and it makes a big difference. The water temperature in the pool was 74 degrees, without the cover the temperature would have dropped into the 60's. I am glad we have a cover.

Senate Democrats Thursday lost a bid to raise the liability cap for oil companies to $10 billion

The Senate on Thursday passed controversial legislation clamping down on fees that card issuers charge merchants

This is not law yet but let us see what happens.

Smaller Government

The world is full of smaller governments. Most are called one-man dictatorships. This Ronald Reagan/Ron Paul governments are just that. A small group of individuals that dictate to us as to what they want to get done with or without our approval. A good example of that is the "Dick" Cheney/Bush Administration. They pretty well did what they wanted and the world be damned.
What our founding fathers wanted was opposite of a king and that was for everyone in the United States to be part of the government. So in/our their Constitution they stipulated that in the Preamble to the Constitution. By declaring, " We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

We have cool and overcast skies in Western Kentucky. The temperature is a cool 47 degrees.
We spent Mother's Day in Murray Kentucky with our daughter, her mother in law and family. It was nice and the weather cooperated.
Tonight the Crittenden County for a Drug-Free Community meets at the hospital.

Update on the Bikini Graph Below

What I heard this morning is big corporations are hiring temporary employees and that people that were not on our unemployment statistics did get jobs (people that had given up got jobs this month). The stats say that folks that are receiving unemployment checks have stayed the same. Small businesses were not hiring because banks were not loaning them money.

Being Wealthy

A very strange thing happened today. It was not the poor folks in America rioting, gambling or robbing banks. It was the very rich who were responsible for taking the stock market crashing.
The newscasters on all the news networks/stations were wondering about what was happening. Here in poor Kentucky we were still enjoying the beautiful spring day while Americas wealthy were jumping out of windows mentally.
Like I said it was not the poor who were responsible for today's lose in value but Americas finest gentlemen.
Moral value is more at home in poor homes in Kentucky than in towering glass structures in New York City.
It is very easy to point to the blame on days like these. It is very black and white.
Should middle America be looking up at clean blue suits and red ties in reverence or should we just look at these folks as Charlatans in fine dress.

History is a Nice Reminder

History is a Nice Reminder. Everyone I know quotes some famous human being for their observation of life. The key to that last statement is the "observation of life" statement. Every well known quote explains it to you and all you have to do is understand the quote. Life is good when the world explains all we need to know in a simple lesson. Yes we can complicate the circle with mental formulas but that is only to taste.

I have been working on the pool. It is warming up quickly. I had to replace the solar cover because the old one died of old age. The sun shine destroys the plastic causing it to lose it's insulating values.
I replaced the pool gate as the old one also fell apart.

I have been drinking a lot of teas instead of caffeine based drinks. I do drink coffee from time to time but not the way I used to. Motherkitty has got a morning break coffee habit at work. She finds it stimulating, coffee breaks are something that I do miss. We as a retired group do have our coffee shops in town, but I do not partake of at the moment. I may come winter, they play cards at the community center.

I am going to get some supple leather and make a braid puzzle. I made one back in the 1970's and I do not know where it is? I will make another one.
I "Googled" leather puzzle and did not get a photo. It is not hard to make.
I will make one.
I wrote the President again about dredging maybe seeing Nashville under water may help.

We had a clear day yesterday but last night a big storm woke me up with a lot of noise and thunder. By the time I was good and about ready to investigate further it was gone. I looked on the radar and it was the tail end of the cloud cover.
The rivers are rising.

It rained very hard overnight. It rained all night and it is still raining. We live on high ground but the rain flows by on its way to the creek. We have an underground river under our home it never comes to the surface but we hear and see it down in our crawdad holes. Our crawdads are brownish black and about 5 inches long. Our cats sit and wait for them to come to the surface. I never see them eat a crawdad but I see them swat at them. They (the crawdad) do have a big pincher.
I have to go out and let some water out of the pool. I will wait until it lets up. time to go to the weather radar.
I went over to the NASA photos of the oil spill and also went out and emptied about 3 inches of water from the pool.

It rained very hard overnight. I have a head cold brought on by allergies. My sinuses are running constantly trying to remove what mowing the lawn on a windy day put in.
Technology always leaves me behind the times. Every time I buy a product it is left behind by the new update.
I used to try to keep up Microsoft, Norton's Anti Virus, Word Processing, Utilities, spreadsheets, databases, paint and graphics. I am lost. XP and Vista and an assortment of free online programs is all I can muster. My pockets are empty. My mind is as full as my watery sinuses.

Lobbyists and Political Action Committees are Unconstitution

We have regulated the coal industry but the law has no teeth because of lobbyists in Washington. We have regulated the oil industry but lobbyists have stopped progress in oil industry safety.
This last month only proves that the Washington lobbyist have more power than the congress of elected officials.
I have explained it before and I will explain it again Lobbyists and Political Action Committees are Unconstitutional.
