I understand that oil forms into pools underground and we pump it out of those pools and burn it and use it as a lubricant. It normally does not flow into the ocean or if it does I am not sure of. The fact that we pump it up and out regularly seems normal.
In the last week a terrible mix-up and explosion killed and injured human beings and pumped millions of gallons of crude oil into the sea where it floats and disperses. We have removed some out of sight, burned some and sunk some.
Will it clog drains and gills, tar feathers and make a walking mess on beaches? I think yes.

5 million gallons have come to the surface so far.
