A Good Thing About the USA

One of the greatest things about the United States is that we can travel by automobile from one end of the country to the other end without being stuck in the mud on most roads. That is really great.
Who created the roads? It was "We the People" with tax money and levies. A small government or a state government would never have had the money to do anything like that. If it was up to the States all roads would be different and the Interstate System of Roads would have never been built. You can thank Germany and the Second World War for our Interstate System of Roads. We found out that we could not move our armies quickly enough for the next war so Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower built roads across the United States. He was a warrior and he knew what he wanted. Money to build roads has to come from bonds, taxes and levies.
Those fast roads are built for armies in vehicles not on foot.
Somewhere along the line we forgot about horses, bicycles, mothers with children and wheelchairs.

  1. Jimmy & I and all people who ride motorcycles love properly paved roads without potholes, bumps & cracks. Cars can drive over most any kind of road with their four tires whether it's paved or not. But as for me I'm thankful for all of our paved roads and wish that they had more out West. Out West only the main roads are paved and the rest are packed sand & gravel. The West is still wild for the most part and you have to have a four wheeled drive just to get from one place to the next which makes our vacationing hard when we're on a motorcycle. There are just so many places that we cannot go.
Here where we live we are very lucky that even the most remote roads are paved and an unpaved road is a thing of the past and out West it's still a norm.
