Today is the 366 day of the year (leap year)

It is overcast and 29 degrees at 0800 this morning.
We live on a planet that moves around the sun and we use a calendar to keep track of the weather as the planet moves around the sun. We have counted the time it takes to travel around the sun and we have counted the time between each sunrise (hour, minute and second). This year the sun has come up over my horizon for the 366 time.

Love, do we have to be compatible to love someone, to live together, maybe a yes. I think to live together and share lifestyles you can love one another and be happy. That is simple.
There is the other existence where you can love someone and truly care about them and not be compatible because of other circumstance. Love can flourish in the mind, love can maintain a sensible caring nature.
The concept of love, the caring, the flow of emotion with others by letter or speech will do as carriers of warmth. Yes it would be great if a person shared lifestyles and ideas. Love would be enhanced. In my case I have shared a great love with another being. All the emotions have been stored into memory and now are being pouring forth.
Letting loved ones know that they are loved can enhance ones character. Shared love is like looking at a beautiful flower. The beauty of those feeling set up deep in our bodies and flow forth with a comfortable warm emotion. Being told that you are loved is a good thing, good for the day planner. It is nice to carry the notion that someone loves you.
As Harry Callahan says" That makes my day."
Every day I scratch this electronic media (screen) with words. Some time ago man created symbols depicting his view of the planet earth. Now we have evolved with over 2,000 written languages (over 6,000 unwritten languages in the minds of human beings). There are at least 18 languages that can be used on today's qwerty keyboard computers like the one I am using.
I am not fluent in my native language but I do try to paint a picture of my evolution on this planet using this tool (language) on a computer.
Some folks have said that if I cannot write, speak or think clearly then I should not show the world my ignorance.
Where in the space that I am provided are those laws of society etched? I think that it is called the average normal behavior of human beings.
Every morning I awake, look about my area around me and see. I am limited by age, marriage, abode and economy to the view I see in the morning.
I write about the unlimited view we see. How can my limited area give me an unlimited view?
I looked at the photo below and could not see what the children were seeing. They gave me an answer.
What is best for the mind?

0600 It is dark out and about 30 degrees. I found AlleyCat sitting on one of the recliner type chair. She is thin and feeble and she had dried matted hair on her legs this morning. Sigh
She just sleeps and eats. Motherkitty did not see her yesterday before she went to work; I found her behind the recliner curled in a ball. She sneezes a lot. Dolly just came by to say hello. The young kitten is being scolded for playing with our blinds.
Looking at angels on high or television? Who is speaking to them and are they paying attention; is dad standing tall?
The photo was taken with our new camera.

A Gift in December
A Christmas Morning Snapshot
Motherkitty was off to work at 0400.
This day is partly cloudy and cool and the birds are back at the feeders. Yesterday the feeders were sideways and moving very quickly. Today I am catching up on home maintenance; placing the objects in the area where I assume they belong. Outside on the deck I picked up objects moved by the wind. Motherkitty got home at 1000 and made some french toast and ham.
I am now watching football on the television and Motherkitty is working a puzzle on the table.
We are still celebrating in this Holiday Season.

High Winds in Kentucky

We had high winds today and I noticed our front door wanting to fly open. I went to close it and noticed leaves swirling in the yard; as I grabbed the door to close it I noticed our 50 foot TV tower down next to Motherkitty's van. I went out to investigate for any damages to our vehicle. A minor scratch on her trunk lid and that was all. Christmas day Kitten Yarn's van and Long Haired Daddy's truck were parked in that area of our driveway.

This old man seated is my Grandfather Pablo; because of his name he was told to leave Mexico or his family would all die (1920). He put his family on a train and they all settled in San Gabriel, California; after the family was settled he went back to Mexico and road and fought beside Pancho Villa. That is me (Tomas) on your left, Sandy on the right and Gil in my grandfathers lap.
When he came back he spent the remainder of his life working at the Huntington Desert Garden

Love Ya

0130 and I am out of bed to take my medicine. Motherkitty will be up at 0300 to get ready for work. It is dark out and over 60 degrees outside in December in the middle of the night; every pot hole in every road in Kentucky in now going to get bigger. The winter salting in freezing temperatures has gone deep into the asphalt and expanded as the weather warmed.
The warmest of greetings to you and may the warm thoughts this Holiday Season have a comfortable place in your mind throughout the year. Love Ya

Starry, starry night.
Paint your palette blue and grey,
Look out on a summer's day,
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul.
Shadows on the hills,
Sketch the trees and the daffodils,
Catch the breeze and the winter chills,
In colors on the snowy linen land.

Now I understand what you tried to say to me,
How you suffered for your sanity,
How you tried to set them free.
They would not listen, they did not know how.
Perhaps they'll listen now.

Starry, starry night.
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze,
Swirling clouds in violet haze,
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue.
Colors changing hue, morning field of amber grain,
Weathered faces lined in pain,
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand.

Now I understand what you tried to say to me,
How you suffered for your sanity,
How you tried to set them free.
They would not listen, they did not know how.
Perhaps they'll listen now.

For they could not love you,
But still your love was true.
And when no hope was left in sight
On that starry, starry night,
You took your life, as lovers often do.
But I could have told you, Vincent,
This world was never meant for one
As beautiful as you.

Starry, starry night.
Portraits hung in empty halls,
Frameless head on nameless walls,
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget.
Like the strangers that you've met,
The ragged men in the ragged clothes,
The silver thorn of bloody rose,
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow.

Now I think I know what you tried to say to me,
How you suffered for your sanity,
How you tried to set them free.
They would not listen, they're not listening still.
Perhaps they never will...

ragged men in the ragged clothes

In Kentucky the edges of roads are a problem; those with bicycles, shopping carts, children and walkers are in danger; worldly promises are made and forgotten. We curse when human beings that are in our path.

The Museum of Hoaxes

Each of us are in a remarkable place.

Each of us are in a remarkable place.
Who can explain the space we occupy.
I live in the United States of America.
Human beings have named and divided America.

Wood, flint, stone, fire, ash, ore, sand, hair, leather, bones and vines.

If I could just remember why I am standing here in this field all-alone.
The weather is nice, but I wonder why I am alone? I am clothed as I remember in my work uniform and boots.
I do have a fondness for pleasant weather and this is my kind of day, but how in the world did I get here?
I have had memories of living alone, wishful thinking, but that does not explain this, what in the world happened? Why am I standing in this field, something is going on, is this a test?
I have imagined myself living without any help before, could this be my answer?
I had imagined that maybe the civilized world that I lived in has ended and
I stood alone to fetch and fend for myself.
Someone in my past had told me to be careful in what I wished for; I seem to be paying that piper.
I thought that I could live like this forever, I do have what I think is intelligence.
I imagined myself standing like a Greek god with my hands at my hips and looking over this small planet.
I can marvel at the colors and stately beauty of this ball of elements, this earth.
Just look at me as I stand rotund and out of shape in a field of green, a weeble.
With no help or being nearby I think that we could live like this forever.
We could stand stately and proud and dare the world to come closer.
Has the author put us all in our own colorful field?
What am I to do?
When night falls we will realize that we are not alone.
The eyes of the wild creatures of the earth will watch us very closely. What am I to do?
We have to learn to use our knowledge, the things that we learned in our life.
We can look for some useful tool and use it, but if no tools are available then we must create some to use.
Can we survive all alone or does our life require the help of others?
How difficult will it be to remains alive and not be food for other creatures.
What can I do to survive?
Do I have to find a cave and figure out a way to start a fire?
Then after the fire is complete then I could maybe get some sleep.
Who is going to watch the night while I am asleep?
I may need to find another human to have some sleep.
I know that there is steel, but how do I create it by my self?
Everything that I saw before this moment had been created for my pleasure to use as a tool or a weapon.
Can I possibly create everything that I know of by scratch?
Or do I have to search the world for other creatures of intelligence to help me out.
Is this new possibility based on each human helping each other out?
Does each one of us behave in a way to help another? Are we dependent on each other?
Or can we stand alone without any help?
It is time to move. It is time to be keen and aware.

Well it was a pleasure to see my son and daughter with their families this Holy Day Season.
My brother Gil called last night to wish us a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. He is finishing up his degree in Engineering at Cal Poly. He is about ready to retire from working there at Cal Poly since moving to the area after high school. He worked at the schools agricultural department for most of those years.
He called my sister Sandy who lives on the opposite side of Kentucky to wish the best in this Holiday Season.
Motherkitty has to be at work at 0900 this day after Christmas.
Eli and Aprilyn called from San Diego International Airport 12 hours later; they were just getting a ride home. They were tired from the long trip and happy to be home.

Family Photos

This photo was taken on Motherkitty's (also mine) new camera that we got from Santa's helpers (Long Haired Daddy and Kitten Yarn). The camera was a complete surprise; it is a Fujifilm Finepix S8100fd seen below. We love it. Eli at right took the photo with the time delay feature on the camera. Talon still has his antlers on in this photo.

This gift was greatly appreciated and extremely memorable.

I write remarkable words.

I write remarkable words. Hidden gems of thought. It does not happen every day just on occasion.
Some days the words are useless banter but then sometimes the world flourishes our thought with radiance.

I read some of the posts I wrote over at the right and I was wondering about all the folks that feed the poor on Thanksgiving. I realize that they alone cannot feed the poor everyday and I also realize that the poor need self motivation to climb out of their hole. But what happens when I get old and my ability to stand for hours does not work. I have a retirement income but what about that lady who worked at home all her life and only has her husbands social security to live on. She may now walk the edges of roads (roads and edges of roads).
I write remarkable words.

It Was The Night Before Christmas

0200 Christmas Eve - the wind is blowing hard.
The cats are playing tag and they have left the tree alone; I guess they know that I get grumpy when they misbehave.
I never put out the Christmas lights outside but the flavor of the season lingers with every thought throughout our neighborhood here and online.
We whisper over the wires "Merry Christmas" as the TV sings a carol in the background- Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
Our youngest cat does not realized that he can dump outside like the rest of the cats - Did you ever hear "Blue Smoke Waivers Over An open Fire" or "Oh What a Smell From the Kitty Litter?"
Our kitty litter is for our oldest cat Alley Cat who just lingers by my side and is content just to be alive; she is thin, healthy and the oldest. She likes to be petted just once then you better walk away because she will draw blood.
Most of our Red Stockings have Antlers sticking out of them over the doorway like mistletoe.
Motherkitty works from 1400 to 1800 then she is off Christmas Day. I think the children are headed to Kitten Yarns then everyone is headed back here except for "Working Daddy".
0700 - It is still raining - Motherkitty is up and active, first checking mail and now working in the kitchen, marinating meat, stuffing and pies. The cats are still running around smacking each other. The wind and rain have soaked the seeds in the bird feeders. I guess the birds are hiding behind buildings to stay away from the wind and rain.

Freezing Rain

Freezing Rain has put a stop to our visit with Kitten Yarn. Kentucky State Police report dangerous road conditions for Western Kentucky.
There is a 20 car pileup on the road to Kitten Yarns Home.

This was created to be a Hand Crafted Christmas Card. Postage, paper ink and envelopes have made it impossible for us on our limited income.
I have cut back on travel, gas use and all magazines.

The Chords - Sh-Boom

This is first Rock and Roll song that I heard. I was walking by a house in Alhanbra California and this was coming from a window in 1950's. - 310 Third Street. Alhambra, California That's my cousin Gene in the checkered sox. This is the early fifties in Alhambra, California. The home in the photo was owned by Tony Stuppy later to be Gilbert's step-father. Tony Stuppy, Gladys Shattler and my dad all worked at Nardine Mfg. in Alhambra during this time frame.
I used to edge the St Agustus lawn with a Gem single sided razor blade.
Check out my thick-soled Bombers and Gene's Penny Loafers
Life in the early fifties. In this photo I was listening to Earth Angel, Shaboon by the Chords anything on Chess records.
I played hard tackle football. My mind was on infinity and the Catholic Church. My mind could reach into the sack and grasp nothing and pull out pixie dust that disappeared like cotton candy.
Drop under your seat and cover your head.
I thought I was cool like my cousin in the photo but I looked like a nerd.

It is warm out maybe 30 degrees. It was too cold in Nashville for Eli and Aprilyn to go to the Steeler Titan football game.
They stopped on their way home to see Scott (who had come in from Florida) in Eddyville, Ky.
Motherkitty yesterday when she got home from work was making a chicken soup stock for the Christmas Dinner Gravy and stuffing. It takes her a whole day to cook the chicken. She also makes Gribenes- which is her special treat of the day.
Kitten Yarn is expecting us today.
We played Mexican Train Dominoes last night and Eli gave me some clues in the art of Sudoku while we watched Kentucky (basketball) and Monday Night Football.

Titans and Steelers

It is 4 degrees in the shade and 6 degrees in the sun; it is clear out with a blue sky.
I have to report to the District Court this morning to see if they will pick me for Jury Duty.
I just started my truck with no problem (and crossed fingers) after it had sat still for the last 3 weeks.
I have been rooting for the Titans since they moved to Nashville I also root for the Steeler's because of Terry Bradshaw and the Giant's because of Eli Manning and Jared Lorenzen who fought for yards and records in the Southeastern Conference and moved on to the Giants to polish their craft in competition.

Sunday, December 21, 2008

Eli and Aprilyn are in Nashville today and the Steelers play the Titans in Nashville. Eli is a big Steelers fan and I think they may go to the football game if he can get tickets.
The temperature in Nashville will be in the 30's with a northwest wind 15-25 mph with wind chills in the teens.
Maybe they will just go to a sports bar or watch the game in their hotel room.

A few people have complimented me on this wonderful God's eye shown above.
Some people want to know how it was created.
The job I had to do was to find the proper mouse to use. Once this was done, it was just a few simple steps. The mouse I used had a variegated tail that was approximately seven foot long.
Do you see where I'm going now. The routine was simple, with quite a lot of patients, the project was completed in no time.
I had to put two sticks together, crossways on a mouse pad. Once done I tied one end of the mouses tail to the center stick. The first few traces were very easy since the mouse would travel in circles by himself. The farther out I got I had to use cheese at each intersection, while the mouse ate the cheese at one point, I would carefully place another piece of cheese at another point.
Time consuming yes, but well worth the effort. Well you can see for yourself, with
patience and a variegated mouse a man can do anything.

Under the Egyptian-brokered deal, Hamas agreed to end militant attacks on Israel from Gaza, and Israel agreed to halt raids inside the territory and ease its blockade on humanitarian goods. The truce held well for the first four months but began to fall apart in October, when there was a marked increase in the number of rockets fired from Gaza into Israel. In the past few weeks, an estimated 200 rockets have fallen inside Israel.A spokesman for Hamas' military wing Friday vowed to resume the struggle."This ceasefire was temporary," said the masked spokesman, who gave his name only as Abu Obaida. Saturday night and I am up out of bed; old men go to bed early and I did and I am up again. I took my medicine and now I am reflecting on our day. Our daughter and children were over for the night "Friday Night" and we were up early "Saturday Morning". Motherkitty was off to work at 0400 and "Kitten Yarn, The Children and I were gone from here in Marion at 0800 on a trip to Paducah to go "Ice Skating" at the rink there in Paducah. "Dancer Girl" and her "Little Sister" went ice skating for the 2nd time this winter. That was an early morning Saturday treat for everyone. Very cold fingers and toes, bumped bottoms, wet noses and wonderful glides on the frozen ice were a sight to see. I stayed with Talon and Kitten Yarn helped the girls. Motherkitty joined us after work.
After the girls thawed out in the van we took them to WalMart for some new dry mittens and new dry socks which they changed in the aisles. After that we found a place to eat then shop and do some chores. By then Motherkitty said that she had been awake since 0100 and wanted to go home so we kissed the girls and headed for home. When we were back home Kitten Yarn called (an hour later) and said that she was back home in Murray.
A very nice day with a lot of Christmas Spirit.
Thank You Dear God and your young children on planet earth.
A Gift in December

by Clement Clarke Moore

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that ST. NICHOLAS soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
"Now, DASHER! now, DANCER! now, PRANCER and VIXEN!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my hand, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,

While on Beale St. at B.B. Kings Blues Club and Cafe we ate dinner and while waiting for the music to start we talked and drank, Motherkitty water and the rest of us beer. As we sat the young waitress asked our table if we had any dental floss, I muttered,"No" and assumed the rest of us would do likewise. Motherkitty said, "Yes she some dental floss." What the young waitress explained to us was that the bartender had a tiny Christmas Tree and wanted to tie some guitar picks as ornaments on the tree. She came by later and should us the tree and it was light green and glowing with guitar picks hanging.
I have Friday morning sand in my eyes. Our humidifiers mist helps my sinus, throat and eyes which makes it comfortable to be in heated homes.
I remember the homes at lock 50 had steam radiators in every room and those homes were comfortable to be in. They burned coal in the beginnings to make steam and later turned to fuel oil to make the steam.
Eli and Aprilyn are on a Kentucky Road Trip where they stop I have no clue they did not know where they were going. This is not the best time to view the beauty of Kentucky unless it snows 4" during the Holiday Season then those rolling hills make a magic scene.
They will be back next week.

unexpected fire (things happen bunches of three)

This morning we put up the Christmas Tree and I asked Motherkitty to get me an extension cord for the tree. While she was gone I cleaned our chandelier over our dinning room table and replaced the clear bulbs with colorful Christmas Lights.
When I turned on the switch one bulb exploded and the fixture caught on fire; I turned off the wall switch but the lights continued to burn for a moment. Finally the lights and small flame went out. I called Motherkitty asking her if she had our electricians number on her phone, she did not so I looked in the book and called his number and left a message. Motherkitty called his cell phone and talked to him. When Motherkitty and son came home I told them again what happened and I turned off the power to the wall switch. They asked me to turn on the power to test the switch and I said, "No!" but they persisted and I turned on the power and they said, "TURN IT OFF!".
The electrician said he would come by after work. Motherkitty decided to replace the burnt fixture with a ceiling fan and light.
Well the new light is up and repaired (the 1st of the three)-unexpected fire (things happen bunches of three).
Does anyone want to rewire a bronze and wood chandelier with hurricane globes?

There is a speed as in Bolt in the city. It is the constant view of change in our daily perception. In Kentucky that perception slows down to the sitting on the front porch rocker and viewing the earth at a slower pace. It is a illusion of the mind a perception of speed. Remember the topic Bolt.
The input of change is a constant in the mind; an illusion can be made by moving swiftly in the ever present change of city lights and the constant change in our environment.
Time in Kentucky has its way of seeming slow because trees are a constant green or brown and the sky is a constant gray or blue; the constant change or neon day glow of city lights and entertainment is not present.

Christmas Tree

Motherkitty is at work and the kids (Eli and Aprilyn) are asleep.
We have a dusting of snow on the ground and it is cool. Motherkiity let all the cats in and they were lounging on all the chairs and sofas this morning.
I stated a pot of coffee; I smell the dark coffee and it is done; time for a cup at a little after 0800.
The kids were off in Paducah the entire day yesterday as Motherkitty cleaned house and I lounged about puttering.
She was angry with me for not putting up the tree yesterday. She is Jewish and is angry at a spiritual being about a tree with lights. I think she is angry that I do not work at a nine to five job like the rest of the world. I putter and paste words instead of cleaning toilets and unloading cargo at Walmart.
