C-Span always says that it is not the government but the cable industry that pays the bills for the C-Span Channel. They always make that boast.The truth is in order for the government to give them that spectrum the cable industry wanted; they the cable industry would always have to provide a public channel in their line up. That was one of the deals hammered out in the talks the cable industry had with the Federal Government.
We had cable for a very long time and they always told us that they would have stereo in their signal. As long as we had their signal they never made good on that promise. The digital satellite people had that signal and it was great so we went with them.
