Update on the Kittens

Good Morning,

We have two rescued kittens that we named Bandit (black around the eyes) and Sandy (sand color).
Well it seems the timid male (Sandy) has begun to fight back against the rowdy female (Bandit). They finally gave out and are sleeping at the moment..
In the photo they came to a halt right there. I put them in the bathroom but they came back out and are sitting near by as I type.
Sandy bites back because Bandit picked on her when was not feeling well. She bit me this morning in a gesture of, "leave me alone bite" but I said , "No!"
Sandy is purring in my lap.

Yesterday I did not post

Good Morning,
Yesterday I did not post, I watched the kittens. We did take the kittens to the vet because we were not sure of what they had from the hard environment they came from. The vet said they were fine just needed a good home and some antibiotics to get rid of some things they caught at the Humane Society. We have a quiet timid male and a calico female that runs fast and plays hard.
Because the calico kitten is always on the go I could not take a photo of them together plus my phone does not take the best pictures. The calico kitten was curious of the click of the camera is why she perked up and looked my way.

A Visit to the Dump

Laurel and I made a visit to the dump last Friday. We had some appliance and a bent umbrella to dispose of. Our dump offers free dump days to discourage folks from dumping into areas in the county that we want left nice and pretty. So Laurel and I did travel to the dump.
While there we went to Humane Society to look at Kittens. You will never guess what happened while we we there.
Anyway we have a timid little orange fellow sleeping in the bathroom and a calico Rebel 'Rouser gallivanting throughout our home this morning.

Good Morning

I am up early and I hear birds outside. Laurel Rose mowed the yard and I flushed the pool several times yesterday. The water flows backwards through the sand and into the street gutter. Normally it flows down over the sand and into the pool. This year I have a lot of white powder in the bottom and it is taking some time to clean. It is too early to swim in and it is about 65 degrees in the pool. Laurel said she would jump in and move the steps to where they belonged but I would not let her go in because the 65 degrees would shock her and she would not have a way out of the pool.
I made a mistake and left the steps in the pool when the man came to close the pool. I will not do that again, my mistake.

Mulch

Good Morning,

I know an answer for a problem in California and I know you will tell me to mind my own business.

I know that if California stopped using chemicals in the big valleys and started turning cover crops over and let them mulch for a few years then maybe the water could be kept in the mulch (soil). It would work in the mountains too. Keep the chemicals away from the wild fires and let the wild brush die and mulch.
A swimming pool in every yard would help.

Good Morning

Getting ready to shred some branches. I noticed that my yard is ready to mow again. It seems that this time of year we have to mow twice a week.

The "Quiet Man" is on the TV as I type. I guess I will watch about 10 minutes of it then go finish my chores.
One thing I do not do is find excuses to not do my chores. Procrastinate I do not.

Good Afternoon

I spent the day yesterday at our NARFE Spring Sprint/Fling; came home and filled the pool. This morning I cleaned the trash from the pool and shocked it. Now it is a wait and see to find out what happens to the pool (64 degrees (it warmed up the 61 degrees a few days ago)).
Today I will pick up branches that Laurel cut Saturday and put them in a pile to shred later this week.
I spent this morning making a web page for our Spring Sprint to place in the History section of our Kentucky Federation of Chapters  website.
I am now relaxing before gathering up some trash for the garbage pickup tomorrow.
Laurel and I had hard boiled eggs for Easter.

Easter Sunday

I have a hard time thing about the story behind Easter. By Easter Sunday everything has past. By that, the trial, the humiliation, the nailing and the pain of burying. By Easter it is all over.
A Jew was prosecuted
So how did we get to the Easter Bunny
From WIKI:
"The practice of decorating eggshell is ancient, pre-dating Christian traditions. Ostrich eggs with engraved decoration that are 60,000 years old have been found in Africa. Decorated ostrich eggs, and representations of ostrich eggs in gold and silver, were commonly placed in graves of the ancient Sumerians and Egyptians as early as 5,000 years ago.
The custom of the Easter egg, however, originated in the early Christians of Mesopotamia, who stained eggs red in memory of the blood of Christ, shed at his crucifixion. The Christian Church officially adopted the custom, regarding the eggs as a symbol of the resurrection; in A.D. 1610, Pope Paul V proclaimed the following prayer:
Although the tradition is to use dyed or painted chicken eggs, a modern custom is to substitute chocolate eggs, or plastic eggs filled with confectionery such as jelly beans. These eggs can be hidden for children to find on Easter morning, which may be left by the Easter Bunny. They may also be put in a basket filled with real or artificial straw to resemble a bird's nest."
***
There is a history and I glanced over it. At an early age I went on Easter egg hunts. My parents would buy me a complete set of new clothes, socks underwear, white shirt, new tie, new belt, new shoes, new suit and a new haircut. They would do the same for my sister plus a new Easter bonnet. We would be shiny and cleaned and we would go to Sunday Mass. After church we would go on the Easter Egg Hunt, Some eggs would be filled with confetti.
I was always at fault for humanities failures.
Times change.
I pray that folks in the old countries do not act like gods that sacrifice bodies to god. God listens, man does not.

The Pool

Good Afternoon,

What's Green and Sings?
Elvis Parsley and our pool.
Laurel and I took the winter cover off the pool a few minutes ago. I had got my mower blades on the mower two days ago and I finished moving things and mowing under them as well as mowing the whole yard. I am filling up the pool and when that happens the pump gets turned on and  the stuff to kill the green stuff growing in the pool will start doing it's job. In a week or so the pool will be ready to swim in.

Good Morning

I am getting ready to mow the yard, I was going to say lawn but I do not have a lawn I have wild grasses with some seeds from the neighbors and what seeds I sowed 30 years ago. I did not sow it all over just in the bare spaces that were very wet 30 years ago (there (bare ground) behind the hula hoop).

Visit With Sister

Laurel and I had a wonderful visit with Jimmy and Sandy in Berea, Kentucky. Sandy is my sister. Laurel and Sandy took some remarkable photos and some are over on Sandy's Blog. we are just now getting acclimated to our home and catching our breath and sleeping in. It has been a whirlwind week for me as I did work most of the week at the NARFE Convention.

My wife's birthday was during the convention so she was serenaded by every present.
I think I need to relax a bit.

Good Morning

Mom is sleeping in this morning. The Birthday Girl has had a busy week and was very tired. I was also very tired of setting up my computer and projector at the convention. I had early morning set up sessions before each days sessions. Doing a lot of things by ear as it is normally done at these conventions. I actually fell asleep and mom had to poke me awake. I had to nap on one of mt 10 minute breaks. I was fine after that.
Anyway we are getting caught up on our sleep.

Good Morning

I am up early and it is raining outside. Inside this brick home it is quiet and peaceful. I feel good mentally and physically. I do seem to speak my mind and my mind is rather open and vast.
When I first arrived in Kentucky I knew nothing about the cats. I knew nothing about our Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall; Kentucky provided me with some rather important observations about our year. Every one needs to be here for at least a year to understand what they really are.

Itis very warm

Good Morning,
It is in the 50's this morning which is a lot better than frost on the windshield. We rarely get frost on the widows. Our windows are insulated and that prevents extremes that create frost on the windows.
