To paint the deck we have to remove all the plants, chairs and tables off the deck (morning), clean the deck with a garden hose (mid morning) then let it dry an hour or two then all hands on deck to paint. With the paint I am using I can do it by myself but it will take 3 or 4 days. It is best to do it one day; when I was stronger it was no problem with me physically to do it in one sweep.
That is how I sanded floors; lacquers and varnishes do not like time so you have to do it quickly and very well (professionally). The paint I have now for the deck is not so serious a paint as the deck sealer I used on the deck in the past.
