Howling at the Moon

Have you ever wondered why some of us are very good at "Howling at the Moon" and some of us cannot? My son is very good at howling at the moon and the rest of us try very hard with good results.
My aunts say that my mother was very good at howling at the moon but I am tone deaf.
Did the wolves follow our example or did we progress together in our songs/voice.
I have no clue but I am sure there is a documentary out there that can explain to us when we first voiced our concern.
