Orange Kitten (Robin) and the Black Kitten (newborn)

Good Morning,

This morning, (about 2:00 AM) I saw Robin looking in the window like Stan Laurel (just pitiful) so I let him in. Later this morning (still dark outside) I saw the little black kitten looking in the same way. My fortunes as Laurel walked into kitchen, I showed her the kitten and she fed them all.

Good Morning,
I am tired, I tilled the garden and planted beans.

Good Evening,
I clarified the pool this afternoon. clarifier settles drifting debris into clumps at the bottom of the pool. The bottom is where I vacuum and the skimmer catches debris as it floats into the basket. Suspended debris can be handled with a net but a clarifier settles it to the bottom.
Mom got some new glasses today at the eye doctor in Paducah. We stopped at Walmart and got cooking oil, milk and bread. We also got a packet of seeds (green beans) which I planted when I got home. I also tilled the garden.
The kittens are staying outside now; they started going to the bathroom where ever they wanted and that was too much for us.

Mom's purse attachment broke so I bought a new attachment at Home Depot.

Good Afternoon,

I forgot to mention that I pulled some tall wheat grasses that had grown at the edge of my trial to the pool from the seed dropping of our bird feeders. I also scrubbed the kitchen floor by moving the chairs and table to get to the soiled areas.

Roku and Chrome Cast

Good Morning,
We had to give up DirecTV as it was sending our Budget beyond our means. We got Roku and Chrome cast, the Internet and some nice company. I am reading the book, "Go Set a Watchman" by Harper Lee . It twists your mind and you become a little confused; you have to push through the emotions to realize what is happening. It bundled itself with AT&T and when you could not pay your DirecTV they threatened to cut off the telephone and Internet service; which prompted us to eliminate something.
They shut it down this morning and  I have been watching CBS Morning News on Roku.

Spinners and Scare Crows.

Good Morning,
I have a scarecrow and some movable flying spinners to keep the deer out of my garden. I learned that deer see blue and green so I created a blue and green scarecrow and blue and green spinners. The spinners are wrappers from Dasani Water Cartons (blue and Green) they are very sturdy and spin very well. I used a paper clip which I attach a fishing line swivel then another paper clip which I attach to a bent coat hanger. The weakest part is the swivel so I keep them handy. I keep the paper clip closed with electrical tape.

Dead Bolt

Good Morning,
I went swimming after the rains yesterday; it was overcast but without a threat of rain yesterday afternoon..
The man from Home Depot is coming to finish the front door; he will add a dead bolt to our door and a storm door. The way the door is made the warranty does not allow him or I to add anything to the door unless it comes from the factory that way. So we had to wait for the door from the factory that has a dead bolt area in the door. The door we have now does not have  dead bolt area. Somebody either the factory or the store forgot to add the dead bolt to the door.We now have three dead bolts in our doors. Our back door has a dead bolt; Our black storm door has a dead bolt which we used to secure the door during very hard storms; our new door has a regular lock and a dead bolt.
(Storm door dead bolt pictured.)
6:45 PM
Somebody forgot to tell the repairman that he was coming by this morning. His wife or Home Depot told us when he was coming. Somebody forgot to tell him.

Late Night

Good Morning,
I stayed up late last night watching the news; when I got up to go to bed I saw these two kittens sleeping with me. I had not noticed them, normally the orange cat sleeps there while I am on my laptop or watching the TV. But last night they were both there.

My sister Sandy sent me this photo of Allison who had stayed with Sandy. My grand-daughter Natasha had gone to band camp at EKU near Sandy.
7:30 AM
Rain and Thunder here in Marion this morning.

Pool Finally Warmed Up

Good Morning,
We have good swimming weather and a pool that is just right. I checked it this morning and the pool is balanced.
Ever since I put the enzymes in it, it has been easy to maintain and it stay balanced; it cleans pool of dead algae, pollen, oils, spills, anti-freeze residue, paint, vandalism and other forms of non-living organic water contamination; frees clogged filters of oil and other forms of non-living organic buildup; removes dead algae quickly and efficiently, in many cases without the need to backwash.
It makes life simple for the homeowner with a pool.
About 2::00 PM
Mom and I went swimming in the pool. It was very nice.

Doe's Eat Place

Good Morning,
We went to a NARFE Meeting in Paducah yesterday. The meeting was held at Doe's Eat Place (Downtown Paducah).
After that we went and bought mom some glasses. She has not had any glasses in a least 10 years, so she got some normal prescription glasses and some prescription shades.
The kittens are up and playing hard. I figure about another 5 minutes and they will be sound asleep.

Allison I made a mistake as I thought that the Market house was an old train station.

From Paducah's History Page

Market House Museum

"A tiny settlement had existed upon the present day town site which was then known as Pekin. When famous explorer William Clark (of the Lewis and Clark Expedition) mapped out the new town, to be called Paducah, a spot was set aside for a market site. Three market houses have graced the site since then.

The first Market House, designed of crude logs,  was built in 1836.It would later burn. The second, a brick central section with plank additions built on later at either end, was erected in 1850. It was this building that was used as a civil war hospital following the Battle of Paducah in March 1864. This structure was razed in 1904 to make way for the present Market House, built in 1905, at a cost of $25,000. It was designed by a Mr. Brainerd and constructed by a Mr. Katterjohn, a Paducah native. The market was designed to be used as a source for produce and meats.

The Market House was open as a market six days a week, and was closed on Sundays.

The shorter statured ends of the building were utilized by produce and flower vendors, who backed their wagons into the open sides of the building, and sold to shoppers who browsed through the building by a middle aisle, which stretched the length of the block long building. The central section, which had a tall, soaring trussed ceiling, was the meat market. Twenty two meat vendors operated three sided stalls under each arched window. The tall ceilings allowed the heat to travel upwards, keeping the meats ( and shoppers) as cool as possible below.

The market closed in the early 1960's, when open air markets became undesirable with the availability of air conditioned groceries and refrigeration.

Today, the Market House is the home of three separate non-profit organizations, a community theatre, an art gallery, and the Market House Museum, which is housed in the taller central section of the building. The Market House Museum is the oldest continually operating history museum in Paducah, having been organized in 1963, and opening to the public in 1968."

Gone Swimming

Mom and I went swimming yesterday afternoon. She had asked after I had come out from under the house but I was just filthy and exhausted. But after I cleaned and washed my clothes I sat and relaxed or about an hour. Then I realized that it was a good idea to go swimming. It was nice.
I did shock the pool after our swim and I checked the level and it is too high to swim in.
I had 3 old trash cans had that had holes in the bottoms from wear. I cut the worn area out to make a doorway for our cats. to use as a dog house.
This old trash can I washed out and made an opening at the bottom; the other side has the lid on it. I may cut a hole in the top.

Broken Spigot.

Good Morning,

Yesterday I replaced a frost free spigot that had cracked open; it would leak terribly when you turned it on.
I went under the house twice and it was very difficult and wet. There were some puddles of water I did not see.
A 75 year old man that is over weight does not fit under homes with small areas to work in; but the job needed to be done and I did it.

Happy Birthday Talon,
Grandpa got Talon a bike for his birthday.
