At the Dams

At the 2 Lock and Dams I was at we had Civil Defense Drills and Classes in Paducah; we learned to understand the different radiation and how to go out and check how much radiation was around us. We learned to use a Geiger Counter.

I asked the instructor if we would ever need this information and he said, " Probably Never". And the next week the Three Mile Island nuclear meltdown occurred on March 28, 1979.

We also had Weapons Lockers which were always locked.
