When laurel and I first arrived in Marion we were dirt poor
but both of us coming from lower middle class backgrounds? I started work at
Lock and Dam 50 and Laurel started out soon as to being a mother.
We started receiving care packages from laurels mother and
visits from various social workers in town. One of those people was Effie Shaffer
who just passed away. She was a kind and friendly human being and we never
tired of her presents in our home.
