Wicket Lock and Dam

This is a photo of Tomas (kneeling) working at the lock and dam on the mighty Ohio River. The current is swift and dangerous. We worked in all weather conditions, our clock did not stop because of inclement weather.
It took 8 t0 12 hard physical hours to raise the dam from the bottom of the river using our strength to lift the heavy wickets from their resting area. See photo and caption below.
Raising the dam was part of the lock crew's responsibilities. The photo above give you a glimpse of the lock.
