Old Kuttawa, Kentucky

We have cool weather here in Western Kentucky the leaves are still green but there is a hint of the colors to come.
I grew up in California and there was not much of a change when the seasons changed. Here we have picture postcard fall views this time of year as in this photo of our fishing hole just south of us in Ol Kuttawa. Motherkitty took the photo from where we fish from.
Old Kuttawa is behind the trees to the left and right.
Old Kuttawa has a history as one of the towns flooded by the TVA back in the 1950's. All that we see is the edge of town that was on high ground all the rest is underwater. The town was moved to what is now called Kuttawa about a mile away on high ground.
See Land Between the Lakes. The two lakes are Barkley Lake (Cumberland River) and Kentucky Lake (Tennessee River).
There have been some stories that I am aware of that were tried and failed because of the previous owners of the Land Between the Lakes. The first was that Spiro Agnew wanted to commercialize the land between the lakes and that was closed either by popular complaints or the law. The second was that the Federal Government was going to bring wolves back into the land between the lakes but the area farmers said they would be shot as soon as they were turned loose off their government trucks. So that was stopped cold. The third is someone in the Bush Administration wanted to commercialize the land between the lakes and those old property owners said if your going to do that then give us back our land and so that was stopped also.

  1. What they should do with the Land between the lakes area is to put bathrooms and picnic areas all along the roadway at certain locations. Make it more people friendly.

It's cold and rainy here today. I am almost tempted to turn on the heat.
