Now That’s Rich

"We need to pinch pennies these days. Don’t you know we have a budget deficit? For months that has been the word from Republicans and conservative Democrats, who have rejected every suggestion that we do more to avoid deep cuts in public services and help the ailing economy.

But these same politicians are eager to cut checks averaging $3 million each to the richest 120,000 people in the country. "

  1. What checks are we talking about here? I'd like to have a $3 million dollar check too. Maybe they can cut one to all Americans regardless of income, then I wouldn't have to pinch pennies and watch my budget.

  2. Oh, I read the article and the government isn't cutting anyone a check at all, they just want to collect that much more tax money from the richest people. The article should have said that the rich are soon going to be cutting a $3 million dollar check to the government, not that the government is cutting one to them. The article has it backwards.

Jimmy & I benefited GREATLY by the Bush tax cuts and we personally would like to keep them in place. We're not in the middle class, so if those are the only people who will get to keep the Bush tax cuts that's not exactly fair to the rest of us.

The only fair tax really would be a flat tax for everyone who receives money in any form from another entity....or even better would be a consumption tax with no exceptions to the poor, to the rich, or to the government. That way if you don't have the money you don't buy it unless you get out and get a job and earn more money. This way NO ONE could holler that the tax is unfair.
