  1. The government would have to impose taxes on the wealthy before deductions and if it does that, then to be fair about it, it would have to impose taxes on EVERYONE before deductions of any kind.

    Everyone tries to use every deduction possible to avoid paying taxes and corporations are rich enough to hire lawyers & accountant who know every means possible to avoid paying taxes.

    I guess this is why a consumption tax on all things bought (or paid for like utilities) would be fair to all...unless of course you live in a cave that is not your own, use no lights of any kind (example: candles), buy no clothes and have no money.

    Myself....I don't want a consumption tax because it would make my cost of living higher and out of reach and then I would have to go find me a cave to live in.
