Americans For Prosperity

Conservatives cheer U.S. Olympic loss

"A conservative group erupted in cheers when the news was announced that Chicago lost the 2016 Olympics."

About Americans For Prosperity

The Mottos for The Commonwealth of Kentucky are 1. "United We Stand, Divided We Fall"
2. "Deo gratiam habeamus" (Let us be grateful to God)

"The phrase (United We Stand, Divided We Fall) has been attributed to Aesop, both directly in his fable The Four Oxen and the Lion and indirectly from The Bundle of Sticks.

The first attributed use in modern times is to John Dickinson in his revolutionary war song The Liberty Song. In the song, first published in the Boston Gazette in July 1768, he wrote: “Then join hand in hand, brave Americans all! By uniting we stand, by dividing we fall!”

Patrick Henry used the phrase in his last public speech, given in March 1799, in which he denounced The Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions. Clasping his hands and waving his body back and forth, Henry declaimed, “Let us trust God, and our better judgment to set us right hereafter. United we stand, divided we fall. Let us not split into factions which must destroy that union upon which our existence hangs.” At the end of his oration, Henry fell into the arms of bystanders and was carried almost lifeless into a nearby tavern. Two months afterward he was dead."

It seems to me that this group ( Americans For Prosperity ) encourages us to be divided.
Did this group coin the phrase, "Divide and Conquer"? I do not think they did but they sure know how to divide our country.

  1. Well Gee Whiz Dennis, Chicago is no place to host the Olympics. I've been there and it's a nasty city. The U.S. should have offered a different U.S. city to host them in. Maybe things have improved since I was there on a miserable weeks vacation, but the only way to improve Chicago was to blow it out of existence. It reminded me of Cincinnati and that's another place that should be demolished.

  2. Nobody said anything about jobs. I was just talking about the best place to host the Olympics, but jobs can be had if you host them in Atlanta or Colorado just as well as in Chicago.

I still think they should blow up the two cities I mentioned in my previous comment and rebuild them without using so much concrete and just make a lot of parks and plant a lot of trees in their place.
