From the The Christian Science Monitor:
•Rumor That illegal immigrants will get health insurance under reform. “That idea has never even been on the table,” Obama said.
•Rumor That reform will produce a government takeover of healthcare. He attributed this accusation to confusion over the so-called “public option,” a proposal for a government-run health insurance plan that would compete with private plans. “It would just be an option; those who prefer their private insurer would be under no obligation to shift to a public plan,” Obama said.
•Rumor That coverage for abortion would be mandated under reform. That is false, although Obama did not venture into the territory of whether women receive federally subsidized insurance could sign onto a health plan that covers abortion.
•Rumor That “death panels” will be formed to decide who receives treatment. Obama called this “an offensive notion to me and the American people.”

One thing that is not a rumor is that my insurance coverage will be changed and the cost will be higher. You just don't mandate changes that insurance companies have to follow without them not passing down the cost to the consumer...which is me.
ReplyDeleteThe illegal aliens will be covered just as soon as they make them legal.
This is a true story. When Medicare bargained with the drug companies to reduce the Medicare rates for drugs my Blue Cross and Blue Shield drug costs went down beccause Blue Cross and Blue Shieid thought that I would switch to Medicare drug coverage. This year(2009) my 1st (BC/BS) five perscriptions were free and they lowered the cost to $10.00 for a three month supply of generic perscriptions. All because they thought I would switch. That is bargaining.
