One thing I know about Kentucky is that it as a community moves at a leisurely pace. The hustle and bustle of city life is not present. There is another gesture on side roads that happens in Kentucky is that they wave at you and talk to you as you were their kinfolk. The first thing that comes to mind is, "Who was that?"
I grew up in Pasadena California (1940-60) in a climate of heavy smog and that your neighbor was an alien being who occupied the dwelling next door. A friendly gesture came as an insult.
In Kentucky everyone has a beautiful view.
