We had a nice day in Western Kentucky yesterday and now the weather has cooled with a chance of snow showers tomorrow. The bad storms missed us and I am happy that we are getting weather that our home can handle. I'll check my river forecast and see if the rivers are rising (+1) or falling (-1). It looks like the Ohio river is rising pretty good up toward West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky (+2 and +4) those are how high (in feet) the river rose in 24 hours. In the narrow northern mountains streams rise quickly and when they get to the Ohio River (Ice D is computing) all at one time the river shows it. We have water reservoirs that can make the river fall below the rising water giving us space for the heavy flow. The only time we have problems is when everyone gets 2" of rain at one time when the reservoirs are full; normally we can adjust.

I'm VERY HAPPY to hear that the bad storms & weather missed you this time around. It's about time you get a break from all of the storms.
ReplyDeleteDid you get out and enjoy yesterday and the day before? These past few days have been great weatherwise and I've spent as much time outdoors as possible walking. I need all the exercise that I can get.
Have fun this coming weekend with the grandchildren.
