George Bush opened the doors of cheap labor ignoring all the labor laws about immigration. He even wanted to build a highway from Mexico to Canada so that laborers could travel into the heart of the United States quickly. He helped all those farms, chicken processors and building contractors take good work away from our building trades in the United States.
Have you seen HGTV (home and Garden Television). Who do you see in the background working in the dirt and stone?
When I was in Las Vegas during the building boom (2000) more than half of the labor force bent over on the roofs of those building were from out of country.
I understand that this country was built on the backs of slave labor but how far do we go when we take the trades away from our youth. Computers, carpenters, plumbers, home building, steel workers, etc.
