Yard Work

Good Morning,
It is partly cloudy outside this morning. The birds are sitting and waiting for the sunflowers to mature; Laurel Rose and I are going to help them by buying some plastic sunflowers and filling our feeders with bird food. It is mild and pleasant out here on the deck.
I do not feel like working any physically labor of any kind. Laziness is the keyword in my thought. I have outside chores that would fill a trashcan but my body and mind say no. I have succumbed to the dreaded, “Isn’t he a bit lazy?” Typical of those folks in the south. We have acquaintance older than us who still work just to keep fit.
I do not care. Hopefully I can get the yard changed enough to just mow it and not worry about anything else.
The photo is my stepmother Helen Diaz which I believe was my last stepmother.
***
We seem to handle rain pretty good in Kentucky; not as good as they used too; Mitch and Rand are a little cheap when it comes to dredges out lakes to handle floods.

3 D TV

Yep I saw a TV that 3DTV and it was great. It was also a bigger set than the one I have and the old movies that Turner Classic Movies showed on their HD format were amazingly clear with a lot of depth that were never seen before. It was truly amazing and something that was never dreamed of when the movie was made.
The fist thing I noticed was my 40" HDTV was small.
Laurel and I did go to the theater the other day in paducah, Kentucky and saw, "Jersey Boys" the move was digitally clear just like the 3DTV that I saw in Las Vegas. i am glag that the movie theaters caught up with the 3DTV; it was going to be bad news for theaters if they did not catch up with big screen 3DTV on home screens. Our next HDTV will be big and 3DTV HD SmarTV..

Tom Cat and Rabbit

Good morning,
I was wondering where the mangy black tom cat was this morning.
Normally the tom is sleeping on the railing next to the sliding door to the deck for the kitchen.
It is very windy, not blustery and cool out here. The air is warm and the wind seems like it is air-conditioned.
I feel good this morning, mentally and physically.
There are signs of rain everywhere, dark clouds, drops of rain on our glass table and technology says by radar that rain is coming.
The kitten is playing with George our male cat that was cut. George has taught a lot of kittens to fight; they are all dead.
The rabbit showed itself then departed just now.
The kitten was here with me but now is out of sight.

Cleaned Photos Off Camera

Good Morning,
I removed over 2000 photos from two Smartphones this morning. My Motorola Smartphone has the software to load on your computer to manage a lot of things on the Motorola Smartphones. It made our phone run faster by removing the photos.
The photo is from a San Diego Old Town Shoppe Museum.
Below is a photo I saw this morning that had nothing to do with taking photos off the camera. It is something I did for the folks at Lock 50 during the off season (Water too High to Lock (Lock and Dam underwater))
The beard was for the "1976 Bicentennial".
We had rain overnight and here is a photo of what my daughter saw this morning.

At the time the photo above was taken Lock and Dam Federal Employees that worked the Ohio River did not wear uniforms. All other Federal Employees wore uniforms; what was the reason in the south for not wearing uniforms. The answer they said was, " Uniforms were Bullseyes!"

The Kitten

Good Morning, Our kitten Bandit beats the crap out of other cats, cat toys, towels, legs and arms (if you let her) and anything solid or loose. We do keep her off the furniture (places we do not want her to go) and she does behave in that particular way but if it rolls or dangles or have a shoe lace attached beware because she will pounce on it.

Good Morning,

It is quiet and peaceful out here on the deck. Laurel and I are doing fine just complaining about normal aches and pains.
I wish I had magic wand for my family. Something we could pass around as needed.
The grass is wet and I will wait a bit but I will go out before lunch and before the next shower and mow. It is one of those times you should not mow but if you do not then everything gets to soggy and wild.

I had some technical help in determining the height and humidity of the grass.

It is absolutely
 pouring buckets of rain.

Good Afternoon

Well it has been a lazy day. We just relaxed, made a trip to town to some needed supplies, had a brunch breakfast then home. Not much ealse other than finding Laureld@bellsouth.net .pst files. Laureld has been changed to Laureld@outlook.com. Laurel main email is laurelrosediaz@gmail.com but her old emails reside at Laureld@outlook.com. She had not seen them in 2 two years (that is when her computer crashed).

Working Inside

It is raining off and on this morning and yes I am having a good morning. I glued Laurel Rose's sandals back together with Shoe Goo; it works well. I hid them behind her old computer to dry (48 hours). They will still be flexible (it is like the stuff they use on fish tanks). I guess I will also wash clothes and vacuum the carpet.

Last Fall at our NARFE Fall Roundup Laurel bought some pumpkins to put on the tables; we brought them home after the event and placed them on our stoop and then later below the stoop. Well they have come up and Laurel Rose took a photo of them this morning.

Good Morning

Why is it when I rest on Sunday I am tired on Monday? I feel OK, a little stiff but OK. I think I am off to get gas for the mower and then I will mow. I have to cover the pool before I mow. That means getting into the pool and clean it. All that will pretty much take up the day.
1145
I got my gas for my mower, jumped into the pool and cleaned it. The pool is crystal clear and very comfortable 86 degrees (bottom and top). I did cover it as I got out so that when I mow I will keep my mowing dust and clippings to a minimum as it pertains to the pool. I will uncover the pool tomorrow so that it does not get too hot.

Sunday Morning

It is a very nice day here in Kentucky. Thunderstorms later today but now it is very nice. At the moment I have to put water into the pool; it is very warm and pretty dirty. I may clean it today.
No storms just a pleasant day in Kentucky. The pool is sparkling clear. A little wind swept debris on the bottom but still sparkling clean.

Good Afternoon

We had to take one of or cats to the Vet because mom noticed that she was not eating or cleaning herself. The vet examined Dolly by looking at her then looking into her mouth. Dolly had split her tongue in two and could not chew, lap up liquid or lick her body clean. The Vet said to get some baby food and make it so it will travel well in a syringe and feed her via the syringe. In time she will be able to use her tongue again and if she can't then it has to be sewn back together.
Mom and I feel well.
6/22/2014
Mom syringe fed the cat this morning and this afternoon but right after eating she begged mom for cat food; the kind that comes in a pouch and she ate it. So the antibiotic and time has helped our cat Dolly.

Fish Fry

Good Evening,
I placed photos of our Lock and Dam reunion on FaceBook and on the Wicket page I created.
We had a great time there at Newburgh Lock and Dam.

Here is a photo of Ron  who caught and cooked all the fish. He was up at 3 to get a spot that was covered at the dam. The wind blew all day and between the cover and the wind it was comfortable.

A Point of View

A point of view:

Sometimes our thoughts are compiled into a point of view.

You know the thoughts about what we think of the world as it stands today.

But there is another point of view.

A simple point of view, a view we sometimes forget about because it is always there, always available.

It is the point of view that we see when we first wake up.

Or the point of view we see when we look out at the world to see what is before us.

It may be a garden out back, a working crew viewed through an open window,

a sandy beach with a red horizon, and a blacktop road at fifty miles per hour.

It is a deliberate choice that we make to put us in our proper perspective with our environment.

I can vision my body going out into a meadow and closing my eyes.

Standing still and then opening my eyes for the first time.

Absorbing the texture and colors in my point of view.

The thoughts moving threw my mind are the colors, textures and smells of my surroundings.

A point of view.

What is Luxury?

Our luxury is not having to go to a 9 to 5 area to work. I guess to my point of view (perception, even up to peripheral vision). Luxury is sitting here in controlled or conditioned air writing text on a gray device that travels beyond the boundaries of my home; I use the normal telephone wire that was placed in our home in the 1970’s. A lot of you have telephone wires that were placed in your homes in the 1940’s.
I see outside this box of electrons. The Yin and Yang of being.
There!
It is one point of view.

I Looked Out, Fed the Cats

Good Morning,
I looked out and fed the cats outside. Our cats have quit hunting. We had a simple comfortable day yesterday with sunshine, barbecue and hot dogs. Laurel bought a chimney lighter so our days of squirting lighter fluid are history. I think we are 10 years behind on that one. We also went swimming in the pool. it was not as clean as I like it but passable ( a we bit better than the river). I also taped NASCAR and watched that while Laurel Rose went into the computer room to fire up her new computer.
I plan to use the "Weed Eater" today and clean up near the pool. At my age I find it easier to say than to do. When I was young I was gone. The planet had no clue as to where I was at or what in the world I was into but if there was work to do I did not look for an out I just did it.
1620
I put the solar cover on our pool; the pool was warmer today than yesterday. Laurel cut some weeds.Things are looking better. Slow and easy seems to be my station in life. We cleaned the carpet Saturday  (I think) and the cat made (kitten) made the carpet look like it was not done.

Almost 6 am

Good Morning,
I did a lot yesterday cleaning the rug, cutting and placing my bird staff up, filling the bird feeders and hanging them on the staff and cleaning the pool.
The pole with the staff I will paint green and up on top I will attract Yellow finches by placing large sunflowers on the staff and pole; having red near nectar brings Hummingbirds so Sunflowers should bring Yellow Finches.
The pool took a little courage as it was just about 79 on the boom and 86  on top; that averages out to about 82 and 1/2 degrees. I think about 85 is OK for us old folks. I will get into the pool today.
I feel sore this morning but mentally I am fine.

0900
Laurel Rose and I are sitting out on the deck and I took a photo of our bird feeder on the pole and staff plus a picture of the tomcat.

Yellow Finches

Good Morning,
My Hummingbird pole/staff (at left) was bent and it lost its temper. I was looking at the garden where I took the fence down and I have one tall poll I buried in sand and it is solid. Those Yellow finches love high tall Sunflowers and I have some sunflowers growing in the garden now. I think I will place my " lost the temper staff" into the tall sturdy pole. I will use the feeder below to feed the finches; that way the finches will fertilize my garden and not my deck.
It was 50 degrees early this morning. I saw the moon this morning and took a photo of it. They said it was full yesterday and that day was "Friday the 13th!"
