Lets check the river stages.

I scrolled down to Smithland and Paducah and checked the plus sign changes. The river rose two foot at Smithland and that with an already big river (high river elevation). No alarm just be prepared to drive an alternate route in some locals in Western Kentucky.

Western Kentucky and San Gabriel Valley Terrain

There are no weather obstacles in Western Kentucky so our weather may come from anywhere. It is rare for the weather to come from the east where we are at but it has from time to time. At the moment our weather is coming from the northwest and that means colder weather. Last night we had thunderstorms with high winds. I have not checked outside this morning. I had everything tied together last fall and that prevented things from blowing away but I did lose a trash lid last month. Let me check. Everything was still here but I heard thunder as I was making a mug of coffee just a moment ago.
The light green shade is rolling hills (if you look closely at the map you can see the ripple of hills) and as we go east we climb very slowly toward the Appalachian Mountains.
I am also highlighting the San Gabriel Valley and a little history with that. So it is a little over a 164 years since Mexico lost the San Gabriel Valley.

46 degrees and rain this Sunday morning. This is a good morning in my mind as I see no violence or sense it's presence in my body. I feel good, mom has gone to work and she sensed good working conditions in her talks to me. Mom has a gifted speaking voice and it's presence reflects on the store where she works as she answers questions from costumers and they do respond by coming to the store.
We spent the day yesterday with our daughter and husband at two basketball games with our granddaughters. They did as they were told and it showed by depriving their opponent from receiving the ball. My cameras batteries failed quite fast even though I did change them. Apparently one low battery can make a camera fail.

There is always going to be a love song and there will be folks that love the planet as well as loving a human being. I am constantly reminded of this by my mind, tall tales and script. It is comforting to know that you are loved as well as loving another human being.

Precious: A Movie (A life I never saw.)

In my brain there is a covering of every square inch of a task and not worrying if the task is completed. Early on I was free to roam the realm of the space where I lived, then it was the task of understanding every square inch of a job and the perfection of doing it right. All this was placed in a society that did not do what I was told to do. Society went it's own way and destroyed the planet when it suited it's needs. Where was I to go? I was lost as I cleaned my room (every square inch). I was placing my nickle in penance (an act of self-abasement, mortification, or devotion performed to show sorrow or repentance for sin), what was wrong.
So today I say my little prayer that is mine.
Like a good boy I repeat it to remind my being as to who I am. Here we go.
"Today is the start of the new day. As the words say above we have awakened from our slumber to a new time in history. Every moment that we see is new, every moment we see another human being and we give thanks that we see them. They are unique and one of a kind. Today is the day that we do not get caught up in the beauty pageant around us and the commercial propaganda that knows our secret to success. Today is ours.

I am aware of another day.
From a deep sleep I awaken.

I am constantly looking for a rush of words that will bring my emotions to a
heightened state of euphoria.
So I read a book, go out and view the early morning,
scan the Internet.
I am chasing a dream.
I am constantly finding that peace, that state of being, that euphoria. Every morning I awake,
every morning I search.
Sometimes there is a moment where I just see like a child lost in a dream, "Tomas did you hear me?"
The teacher comes by and says, "Tomas did you hear the question?"
Someone please tap my shoulder.
Awaken me from this moment of peace. Nothing would be done if we all found that moment of peace. No wars could be fought if we all found that moment of peace. Some of us can carry that moment throughout the day.
An aura of bliss carried on our shoulders like a comforting knapsack.
We can dig the weeds, assemble the work, draw the painting, and write the word.
All we need is the awakening moment, the reminder,
the warm chill that emanates deep in our being to come forward like the blood that flows to our brain. We are constantly showing others our moment hoping that they will see it. Share it be part of it. It is a good vibration;
a warm movement of blood;
a good state of mind;
it is peace."

My surroundings are peaceful and quiet. Quiet in a sense of peace because technology causes the water to fall in our fish tank and the electric motors turn throughout this home to move the air and refrigerant. I do not live in a cave with warn air moving from vents in the caverns nor do I live in a comfortable climate of 70 degrees were a sleeping bag would be a comfortable blessing.
It is 33 degrees outside this morning in Marion, Kentucky.
My wife and I were curious as to where my grandfather had his hacienda in the state of Durango in Mexico. He called it Villa de Dios but I do not know it's location in the state of Durango, Mexico.

I awoke out of the darkness an I am now in the sun light. I am thankful for that. I feel comfortable and I do not seem to ache anywhere. I only need water to cleanse the residue of sleep away.
I have been impressed by the revolution and the way countries deal with revolt. The United States fires them (union workers), Iran removes them, Iraq and Libya kill them and Egypt listens.
I still must remind you that this nation is a union of states and of people. To be against it is not the way of red, white and blue America.

We were meant as a group to revolt just as our forefathers revolted against injustices of the rich and wealthy of Great Britain.

Internet User

I am retired and I use the Internet. But I see a lot of folks that are still working using the Internet. I think a lot of folks work at home and pass by FaceBook to get the jitters out they working skills. Some folks are unemployed and cannot find a job because they have been searching for at least 3 years for a job and the Internet is the only thing that keeps them sane in the winter months. Some folks are at work with no one looking over their shoulders and stop by and say hello via their phone or computer.
The Internet is a quick source of information. Information is always taken as the words of individuals and that is quite a spectrum of data.

I Think It's Going to Rain Today

Mom is off today and my back is sore. I am trying to think as to what caused it to ache. I must have carried something yesterday.
I feel fine mentally and I think it going to rain today.
Mom bought me some ground coffee for my machine but I think the grind is a little fine for it.

I worked those days.

I remember the last time the government shut down. Those of us that stood government watches, police, lock and dam operators, military personal on duty, the FBI on duty, the treasury on duty, the government banks on duty, immigration officers standing guard were essential and could not be shut down. Everyone else went home.

I placed my early tomato plants in huge pots (just 3 so far). I also planted my Hibiscus seeds but they have not come up, I may have to start again and soak the seeds before placing them in pots.
Mom is off at work. We both feel good.

The State of the Union This Fine Morning

The unemployed do not pay taxes and the small businessman does not want to pay double taxes and Corporate America has moved out of country and Mexico and India are trying to move in country.
I am too old to be employable so I just social whimper on my Laptop on the state of the Union.
We are such nice guys. We pay for all the police states in the world. We grow all the wheat for the poor. We invent all the goodies. We raised the world standard of living and the cost of living has equalized throughout the planet. World envy of equality has gone to hate. The wealthy have hidden their money and play stock games.
Our planet society has gone to The Feudal System.
This is a nice morning. My keyboard was stuck and somewhat spongy. I shook some stuff out of it but it needs a good airing.
Mom is home but she must be at work around noon.
We both feel fine.
Our weather is in the 50's with signs of Spring in the air. I am a little skeptical because in the past our late February has been cold.

Thursday February 17th. It is a good morning, I awoke. Our daughter and her children are here to visit grandma and grandpa. They brought their school work since this a school day. The children have grown quite a bit since we last had seen them.
Mom is off work today so there will cooking lessons and maybe grandpa can lend the children some art supplies.

Our government is two years behind in rent.

Good Morning. Mom is off to work. I had a dream that we got a package from Amazon that I knew nothing about. And as I was opening the package my son was in the room. I did not know why we got what we got and to whom it was for and I still do not. Apparently it was a Christmas gift and our son maybe was the beneficiary. Ops. It was a dream and those end as soon as we awake.
Today is a nice day 30 degrees at the present time and I do see some clouds in the sky.
I feel great and apparently mom does too.
Our Mockingbird is very territorial and it just luck when other birds get to eat at our bird feeders.
I think we will just have one feeder up front and one out back since it impossible for any array of bird to feed out back.
Our government is two years behind in rent.

Why are they working?

Everywhere I have ever worked there were people hired to keep them off the streets, I can assume that I am one of those individuals. We have all seen them and we wonder why are they working where they are at. They never do anything and if they do someone comes behind them and cleans up the mess. The simple reason is that they are better off working than not working at all.
My skills after high school were best described as suitable for picking up the trash and cleaning up the toilets.
Remember that the Egyptians used slaves to build their pyramids. Slaves are a mixture of intelligent and not too bright folk.
At the moment our government plans to put those people on the streets because it (our government) does not have the funds to pay that dip shit to roam around the country finding out why we itch when we crap in the woods.
Are we better off paying them to roam and stand at coffee pots or are they better off asking for pennies on the corner.
It seems that the GOP has decided that waste is not proper and should be excluded from the chow line just as Ronald Reagan emptied out federally funded insane asylums.

Today is the SunDay. As the words say above we have awakened from our slumber to a new time in history. Every moment that we see is new, every moment we see another human being and we give thanks that we see them. They are unique and one of a kind. What happened to the 24 hour news network?

There is no 24 news channel. The only thing close is called the Internet and that is scattered news collected only by popularity or enormous effect on the human environment.
I have noticed that on Saturday mornings we have children and adult cartoon/documentaries so that our news folk can have a weekend of rest.
I have also noticed that the folks that talk about poverty are employed to do so.
I just saw Greenspan talking about what he talks about to those that wonder what he talks about and they all get paid to do so. They all looked comfortable and wealthy.
Today is Saturday and I awoke feeling good. I have no headache or worry. I have nothing to do but absorb the day. My days of getting ready for work traveling on the highway, working 8 hours for 5 days is done. My body is worn out and must be near a bush or rock. Today I write not well but just enough to dwell on the insanity and bad turn America has taken since 1980 (30 years ago). Our children no nothing of freedom or privacy, we have a Supreme Court Judge whose wife is a Lobbyist ( a little beyond common sense) and a President whose wife wears 30 dollar dresses (some good sense).
We have a feudal system of government.

It has taken one month for the birds to understand/accept our new feeder. I find that so amazing. It is the feeder in the middle with the umbrella top. The one at left has a crack in it and just about ready to crumble. It is the birds favorite feeder. I put the bungee cord on it because the Starlings would lean/hang on one side of it and pour the food out on the deck so they could all eat. They could empty it in one out in minutes.

The weatherman is talking about 50 degree weather next week. That will be a relief. We have enough cold to kill off a lot of bugs in our garden spot. Cold weather does that to gardens.
Mom is at work this morning.
Our Mockingbird is keeping birds away from our feeders. She watches and if a bird flies near the feeder she swoops in and pesters them. I was wondering why the birds were keeping away from the feeders. I can broadcast the seeds on the snow and the birds will come that way. I do have some cracked corn just for sowing in the snow.
What amazes me is the ability of mail men and mail ladies to go near a mailbox in their autos and deliver the rural mail in this slick snow everyday. Our mail comes every day rain or shine, plus they have to open the rural mailboxes at every home they come to. Nobody ever thanks them for that they just complain that they are overpaid.

What clothing do our leaders wear? What clothing do we wear and what clothing do I wear? When I was dropped out I wore none in the warm climate of California or wore recycled clothing from our clothing bin. Gandhi wore clothes he made. Where on the scale of vanity do we place our being. Is it important as to what we wear in this day and age? We as a society wear clothing that is made quickly and cheaply by women and children.
The idea of children working in sweat shops has been banned in the United States. Children working at home is fine.
I do not don jewelry but I do wear a watch because I am not outdoors all the time. When I was outside in my younger days I viewed the sun and by seeing where it was I could tell you the time of day.
Where as a society do we stand?
Where as a society do bees and ants stand?

Raising crops to create fuels to burn in cars and/or burning garbage for electricity are as good an idea as the burning the Amazon. When you take good topsoil and raise crops, eat the seeds and turn what remains back into the soil that is productive land management. Replacing mulch, organic matter and organic garbage in the soil is good land management; it create a soil that the creatures below the surface can consume which produce good soil for plants. Green crops and trees that are burned go up in smoke and offer little to the earth as mulch and organic matter.

I have talked to people about how the city fathers want you to conserve the water in your city. In truth you should have a pool in your backyard. Do you hear what is happening to the rain forest in South America. They are burning them, that is a good way to become a desert. My best examples of what to do what is right for the planet are Israel and Las Vegas. They use water, they hold water in basins (reservoirs), they have swimming pools.
Trees in the Amazon (South America) hold water, swimming pools in Las Vegas hold water, Israel uses water to irrigate their plants.
When you have water in mulch deep in the soil, in pools, with misters, drip waterer, Amazon forests and reservoirs the water vapor rises to the clouds and stays in the area, when you burn the earth ash consumes the water plus you lose the ability to store water in trees and mulched landscapes.
It is nice to create machines that use less water as in toilets but do we really need a shower that only dampen your dreams. I removed all the strainers out of our shower, we shower with a full head of water which goes down the drain and into the earth where it is held until it evaporates and rises to water someones else's garden.

It is minus -2 degrees outside and it is 68 degrees inside. Now it get serious as to whether our vehicles start and our pipes keep from freezing. I have worked in my earlier years in this home to find the troubling spots that cause problems and repair them or make them safer, hopefully my work is still paying benefits. The truck and van are newer vehicles and hopefully are protected from the cold.
Mom is off work today (it is a normal off day). We both feel good. Mentally I am in great spirit and I am one with the planet.
I will go out and start each vehicle and let them run for 40 minutes to warm them up.
It is time for a cup of tea.

Just came back in from warming up the red truck and the white van. I will warm them up good so that it will take a while for the metals to cool.

House Republicans Aim to Cut Funds for EPA, Energy, Health Care, Police

I put a peanut butter and jelly sandwich out for the birds, I hope they find it. I had an old peanut butter and jelly sandwich out before and our mockingbird loved it.

I just saw a small bird dancing in the snow/hopping (bunny hopping) and pushing the dusty snow away from the seeds on the deck. We have about a full inch of very dusty snow. It is very deceiving and slick.

Good morning, our temperature outside is 15 degrees and inside it is 72. Our roads are clear and may be black ice in some places. The snow is still in place.
The other day we had a talk about me staying home while mom drives in these terrible conditions while I make a good and healthy pension just staying home. I drove and walked across the dam (3/4 of a mile and up 118 steps and down 118 steps twice a day) for 15 years before my legs just could not climb and walk across any more. At that time mom worked at the hospital we had only one car for about 5 years and mom walked to work (900 yards) in all conditions. Mom earns her social security plus what she earns at Walmart. We were in terrible debt and mom is digging us out with her job. Our home and her van will be paid for in another year and that will free up close to a half millions dollars in interest payments.

The State of the Union

The sun melted the snow that was plowed and that that lay on the ground settled a white perfect snowman, angel or snowball. It is 25 degrees outside and a comfortable 71 indoors.
My pension allows me to pay my bills and mom's social security allows us to eat. Her job allows us to buy clothes, toothpaste and soap suds for our appliances.
She is off today and she is at her computer. She is in good health as I am in.

This is real. It looks as if a young space travel artist had conceived this idea and put it to paper. But it is real and taken by the Hubble Space Telescope.
Monday morning and we have snow and it is 30 degrees outdoors. Just enough to cover the grassy areas and maybe make the walk slick.
Mom went to work.
I watched the Super Bowl yesterday and it was a great game to watch. It was as hard played game as I had expected and I was not surprised at the outcome. I was for the Pittsburgh Steelers but I was not surprised when their offense made those costly mistakes. I give credit to the Green Bay Packers defense for making the difference. I enjoyed the game and how tough they played.

It is Sunday Morning and also Super Bowl Sunday.
When I grew up it was the Rose Bowl and the Olympic. Then it was the Wide World of Sports an ABC Sports program on television.
In California for me it was, track, college football and the NFL. There were no baseball teams other than the Hollywood Stars.
Wrestling was local but Gillette had Gillette Cavalcade of Sports.

I do not know when I will join the broadcast of the Super Bowl game.

Some folks do not think much of a hard hat but this hat is something special. See the the red round sticker at left (you may have to click on the photo to get a better view); it says Ice and Snow 1977.
I got the sticker and $87.00 dollars while in the hospital after a hernia operation. The sticker and money was the governments appreciation for working 12 hours a day 7 days a week for two months in the 1977 -1978 winter storm. Click on the hat to see some of the photos of those days.
Anyway one day at Smithland (sometime in the 1980's I decided to bring my hat to the lock to display and use the hat. After the first day on display I noticed that someone was trying to take the sticker off the hat. I promptly brought the hat back home where it hangs in our laundry room. That sticker means a lot of very cold hard frost bitten work plus the hernia and I was not going to let someone get the sticker for a trophy.

C-Span

C-Span always says that it is not the government but the cable industry that pays the bills for the C-Span Channel. They always make that boast.
The truth is in order for the government to give them that spectrum the cable industry wanted; they the cable industry would always have to provide a public channel in their line up. That was one of the deals hammered out in the talks the cable industry had with the Federal Government.

We had cable for a very long time and they always told us that they would have stereo in their signal. As long as we had their signal they never made good on that promise. The digital satellite people had that signal and it was great so we went with them. The satellite folks went even further by offer digital satellite music channel and a high definition signal which are nothing short of spectacular.

Our Old Phone

It is snowing here this morning we seem to have less than an inch on the ground. I think the prediction was 1 to 3 inches of snow here in Western Kentucky. It is 31 degrees out there and what is coming down is wet and not fluffy.
I have been reading about digital phones and how secure they are. At the moment I am not sure what I have. My old phone was what was called when I bought it "Spread Spectrum Technology" 1996-1999 ( 900 MHz frequency) was the year we bought the phone as the spectrum had not been divided as it is now.
Both mom and I are both feeling rather well and I did remember that today is a new day but I did not want to burden you with that fact. I do celebrate my existence by feeling rather comfortable in my environment. I do not want as it is not good for the mind to dwell on frivolous objects or moments in the future. I do look in catalogues but I turn the page my mind goes to that new page and when I go back my mind still goes forward into the future as the page turns back. It is always the moment to be.

15 degrees and we have no snow on the ground. It is still dark outside and I do have heat in our home because the heater is keeping our temperature at least 71 degrees. That is comfortable. I know of folks that still huddle under blankets to keep warm to keep the cost of life down. Our poor in Kentucky use wood stoves to keep warm. Their water is down deep and only pulled to the surface so it does not freeze but it must be heated in a kettle/large container on the wood stove. The Amish use a generator to pump up their water in their homes here in our county.

I feel rather well today and I send out a good feeling to those of you that have rather harsh mornings.
Although my morning seem the same because of circumstance and environment I do not forget that I awoke on the planet earth in a new time. Our planet is occupying a new space as it spins around the sun. The path may be well worn but the time is rather new for the planet also. This is the first time that photo of a horse and buggy parked so close to our home.
It is time for a cup of coffee.

We never fully understand the day before us because it is always new and setting time in the future space. Every moment we exist on this planet is a very nice gift. And this young man is playing a slow dance song on my computer. He is good at what he does.

Dan'l

Frankfort Cemetary, Frankfort, KY

We were in Frankfort, Ky. high up on the hill overlooking the bend in
the Kentucky river in 1968. The river was high, chocolate and swift. We sat on
the ground. Viewing the scene, we sat in peace, inhaling the moment.
Watching the turbulence far below. I sat with Dan'l and Laurel. Laurel
was holding an old green bottle that she had found. I told Dan'l that
Laurel and I would be driving back to Marion come sundown. He asked
how far Marion was? I said a hundred miles. He looked at us puzzled. I
said that times had changed the way we traveled. Our walking days had
passed. He looked out over the river while working a knife into a
piece of wood, whittling. He stared passed us, out over the raging
river, solemn and quiet. A hundred miles, he says to himself? I
pointed down to the 1967 Mustang down at the road. Let's look see he
says. He stands tall in his buckskins. We stride down to the Mustang
swiftly. He walks around it, his mind racing, his eyes marveling at
the machine before him. You see his intelligence absorbing the
carriage before him. I could see that a bear would think twice before
challenging such a man. Such power, intelligence and grace. We said we
had to go, we thanked him for his time, we would meet again sometime.
Driving back, Laurel asked if I enjoyed the day, I said yes. Next week
Laurel wants to go visit Ol' Abe.

Laurel and I visited Daniel Boones Grave, It overlooked the Kentucky river in Franfort Ky. The State Capitol was in the bend of the river below us.



It is raining this morning and the temperature outside is in the 40's. The big winter storm is to our west and I m not sure whether it will hit us. Well I know we will get the storm but I am not sure as to what we get? Snow, Ice or Rain.
I am washing clothes and cleaning a bird feeder as I type.
I took a cut in pay on my pension as Blue Cross and Blue Shield raised their rates and the government held its ground.
I was a retirement dinner last October with about 50 retired federal employees in attendance. In the room we paid as a group 1/2 a million dollars in premiums to just Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
